Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

PrecisStudy is a free study-guide site built and run by one high schooler. This page explains, in plain language, what the site stores about you, why, who else touches it, how long it stays, and how to remove it. Nothing here is sold to anyone.

The short version

  • You can use every study guide, flashcard deck, quiz and the AI Study Helper without an account. An account only exists to save your progress and unlock extras.
  • We never see or store a password. Sign-in is Google, GitHub, or a one-time email link.
  • Optional features (leaderboards, share links, calendar sync, school connections) store extra data only if you turn them on, and each one can be turned off again.
  • You can delete your account yourself at any time: Settings → Delete account.

What we collect

When you sign in

  • With Google or GitHub: your name and email address, as provided by that account.
  • With an email link: your email address. We send a one-time sign-in link that works for 15 minutes.
  • A sign-in record: which method you used and when, so we can tell a new account from a returning one.
  • Your session lives in a browser cookie that expires after 30 days. "Sign out of all devices" in Settings ends every session at once.

Your study progress (saved only when you are signed in)

  • For each subject: how many questions you answered and got right in each unit, which worked examples you finished, which flashcards you marked known, your spaced-repetition schedule, and the unit order from a syllabus you uploaded.
  • Daily snapshots of your readiness and totals (used for the trend charts and weekly numbers), your streak, XP and quests, your study goal and weekly schedule, and your notification preferences.
  • The list of subjects you have enrolled in.

Optional features, stored only if you use them

  • Leaderboards and study groups: a random handle (or a nickname you choose), whether you opted in, and a group code. Other students see only your handle or nickname and weekly numbers, never your name or email, and only while you are opted in.
  • Peer challenges: the questions picked, each side's score, and the email of each participant so the challenge can find you. Challenges expire after about two weeks.
  • Share link, calendar link and invite link: a random token. Anyone who has your share link can see a read-only summary of your progress until you revoke it; your calendar link shows your study schedule.
  • Study reminders: your browser's push-notification address, so reminders can reach this device.
  • AI flashcards and syllabus reading: the notes, document or syllabus you provide is sent to an AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI) to produce flashcards or to find topics and dates. We keep the generated cards and the extracted topics and dates; the file or text you provided is not kept.
  • Google Classroom and Calendar: if you connect them, we keep an encrypted Google refresh token and your settings, and read your coursework and due dates (and write study blocks to your calendar if you ask). Disconnect in Settings or at your Google account's permissions page.
  • Canvas: if you connect it, we keep your school's Canvas address and the personal access token you paste, encrypted. A token you create in Canvas can see what your own login can see, so give it an expiry date and remove it in Canvas when you disconnect.

Things you send us on purpose

  • Guide requests: the class name and notes you type, an email address if you add one, and up to three files (6 MB each) if you attach them.
  • Feedback: your message, its category, the page you were on and an email address if you typed one (we attach your account email if you are signed in and left it blank).

The AI Study Helper

  • The messages in your current conversation, plus which guide and topic you are on, are sent to an AI model (Cloudflare Workers AI) to write a reply. We do not save the conversation and do not link it to an account. Please don't type private information into it.

Technical information

  • Cloudflare, our host, processes standard connection data (like IP address and browser type) to run and protect the site.
  • Your browser sends us error reports and page-speed measurements (the page address, the error text and timing numbers). They go into server logs we use to fix problems and are not tied to your account.
  • We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure load speed. It does not use advertising cookies.

Cookies and browser storage

  • Sign-in cookies: your session (30 days) and short-lived cookies used while signing in or following an invite link.
  • Your cookie choice about ads, remembered in your browser.
  • Browser storage on your device holds a copy of your progress, your theme and display settings, study-timer and reading preferences, and your last place in each guide. Clearing site data removes it.

Advertising

PrecisStudy shows ads served by Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technology to serve ads and measure their performance, and — unless you've limited ad personalization in your Google account — to personalize which ads you see based on your visits to this and other sites. PrecisStudy itself does not read, store, or have access to that ad data; it's handled entirely by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. You can see and adjust what Google knows for ad personalization, or opt out of personalized ads entirely, at Google's Ad Settings, and browser-level opt-outs (like the NAI opt-out page) also work here. On first visit to the homepage you're asked to accept or decline these cookies; ads only load if you accept, and you can change your choice anytime via the "Cookie preferences" link in the homepage footer.

Who else is involved

We use the services below to run the site. We don't sell your data or share it for marketing.

  • Cloudflare — hosting, storage of your account data, AI models, sending sign-in emails, and optional analytics (privacy policy).
  • Google — sign-in, ads, and Classroom/Calendar if you connect them (privacy policy).
  • GitHub — sign-in, if you choose it.
  • Your school's Canvas — only if you connect it; requests go to the Canvas address you gave us.
  • Browser push services (run by your browser's maker) — deliver reminders if you turn them on.
  • jsDelivr loads the math-rendering library on guide pages, and Desmos loads only if you open the graphing calculator. Both can see your IP address when they load.

How long we keep things

  • Sign-in links: 15 minutes. Sessions: 30 days. Challenges: about two weeks.
  • Account and progress data: until you delete your account.
  • Guide requests and feedback (including attached files): until we've handled them and clear them out. We don't yet delete these automatically, so ask us if you want yours removed sooner.
  • Server logs: for the period Cloudflare keeps them.

Your choices

  • Delete your account: Settings → Delete account removes your progress, sign-in record, share, calendar and invite links, Google and Canvas connections, leaderboard and group membership, challenges, and your email address from any feedback or requests you sent. We also revoke our Google access. Canvas tokens are removed from our side; to be sure it can no longer be used, delete the token in Canvas too.
  • Reset progress: Settings → Reset all progress clears your study progress and keeps the account.
  • Turn things off: opt out of leaderboards, revoke the share or calendar link, disconnect Google or Canvas, and switch off reminders, all in Settings.
  • Sign out at any time, or on every device with "Sign out of all devices".
  • Ask us: to see, correct, export or delete anything we hold about you, email us below. We don't have a one-click export yet, so we send it to you by email.

A note on age

PrecisStudy is built for high school students studying for their exams. We don't ask your age, and we don't knowingly collect more than what's needed to sign in and save your progress. If you're a parent or guardian and want your child's account deleted, want ads limited to non-personalized only, or have any other question about your child's data, email us and we'll help — see also our Parents' Bill of Rights.

Changes to this policy

If anything meaningful changes about what PrecisStudy collects, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change.
